Research аnd Innovation for Security, Defence and Space Week

The Belgium’s Presidency of the Council of the EU has set as key priorities: accelerating twin green and digital transitions and making use of innovation, as well as strengthening the EU’s capability to act in the field of security and defence. With the EU Space Law and the EU Space Strategy for Security and Defense planned for adoption under the Belgian Presidency, the foundations of a new ecosystem - Security-Defence-Space will be laid, which will help to achieve strategic autonomy of Europe in these sectors.

In response to the current geopolitical challenges, the European Commission adopted the first ever European Defence Industrial Strategy and proposed an ambitious set of new actions to support the competitiveness and readiness of its defence industry.

The objectives of the RESEARCH AND INNOVATION FOR SECURITY, DEFENCE AND SPACE week are to support the implementation of these priorities and to encourage collaborative interactions between science and industry representatives with a view to the exchange of experience and future cooperation in the field of security, space and defence. The programme includes a series of thematic events addressing two main aspects – the challenges in the light of the current geopolitical events and the EU's adopted priorities to strengthen the European defence industry, as well as the global challenges related to the adverse effects of climate change, and the role of science, innovation and space technologies towards accelerating the transition to a green, sustainable and secure Europe:

The events
will be the opportunity to confront challenges and solutions, bringing together governmental and local authorities’ representatives, specialists, experts and scientists from leading European organizations, as well as business representatives from different sectors.

Participation will be free of charge. The working languages will be Bulgarian and English.
