The ninth edition of the International Defense Equipment Exhibition HEMUS is going to take place from 26 to 29 May 2010 on the territory of International Fair Plovdiv – the largest fair and exhibition site in south-eastern Europe.
Throughout the fifteen years since its inception, the exhibition has been pursuing and achieving its main objective, namely to promote the development of the defense industry by providing manufacturers and traders the opportunity to stay in touch with the industrial and research innovations and achievements of both local and international developers of armament and military equipment, and to find new possibilities for joint production, overhauling activities and cooperation in the research and development of new defence products.
As a member of the international antiterrorist coalition, Bulgaria is participating to a number of international peace keeping and peace supporting operations. To assure the success of these missions, its professional army is being equipped with weapons and equipment manufactured under NATO standards both in Bulgaria and in other countries from the Alliance.
The scientific support to the processes of modernization and rearmament of the Bulgarian army is connected with resolving a complex of organizational, financial, tactical, and scientific and other problems, including, but not limited to, defining the missions and objectives of the armed forces and the technical and material support to their implementation. This is precisely the goal of the International scientific conference on defence research and technologies held within the frame of HEMUS. The agenda of the conference includes reports and contributions by NATO officials and researchers, representatives of the member states of the Alliance and the partner countries, as well as of the executive and legislative power of the Republic of Bulgaria, and defence industries.
Furthermore, the ninth edition of the International Defence Equipment Exhibition Hemus offers a good opportunity for the military and governmental delegations and for the officers to acquaint with the latest achievements of the national defence industry and the high-tech products presented by the foreign manufacturers.
The International Defence Equipment Exhibition HEMUS 2010, together with the scientific conference and the other parallel events, will contribute to developing new concepts and ideas for improvement of the cooperation between research units, manufacturers and users of armaments, equipment and communication and information systems, and it will increase the mutual trust and collaboration in the military and technical domains.
